Indian Police Arrest Three in Connection With Mumbai Train Bombings
Police in India have arrested three men in connection with last week's train bombings in Mumbai that killed nearly 200 people. The three men appeared before a Mumbai court Friday and were ordered to remain in custody for 10 days. Investigators had detained hundreds of people across the country for questioning since the July 11th bombings, but these three are the first to be formally arrested.
Indian officials have repeatedly said they suspect the attacks were carried out by Lashkar-e-Toiba, a Pakistan-based Kashmiri militant group. The group, which is fighting Indian rule in Kashmir, has denied involvement. The train bombings in Mumbai triggered accusations by India that the attackers got support from militants inside Pakistan. Pakistan denies that and has condemned the attacks.
