Indonesia, （AFP） - island to support Indonesia's struggle against al-Qaida-linked groups ，US President Bush has begun a tightly guarded visit to Indonesia's Bali island, where al Qaeda-linked Islamic terrorists killed 202 people in nightclub bombings just over a year ago.

Thousands of troops, police and US Secret Service agents, backed up by warships and helicopters, imposed intense security as Bush travelled in a 20-vehicle convoy from the airport to a hotel a few hundred metres away on the resort island. Ngurah Rai international airport was closed to all other flights for the duration of Bush's four-hour visit, an Indonesian security official said. Fifteen flights were rescheduled. Bush then went straight into a meeting with President Megawati which was seen as a gesture of solidarity and support for Indonesia in the war on terror.
