     W: Hi, George, what have you been doing lately?I haven‘t seen you around much. Where have you been?
     M: Oh, I was playing the piano for a group of Germany. I just got back.
     W: It must be exciting playing the piano and traveling all the time.
     M: Well, playing the piano is great, but the traveling is no fun. Living out with the suitcase all the time. I have just been to my manager and he has offered me a job: playing on the coast for the summer.
     W: At a sea sight town?
     M: Yes, but I don‘t think I am going to take it.
     W: Why not? Not enough money?
     M: No, it‘s not bad. The money is good, about two hundred dollars a week. It’s just that we will be working in the hotel playing for the tourists. And they just want a same old music over and over to dance too. And I get so bored. It‘s not like playing the music. It’s like being a machine. W: I wouldn‘t mind being a machine for that money.

     M: I‘m waiting for the bus.
     W: Where are you going?
     M: I‘m going to the station to meet my sister.
     W: Oh, is she coming by herself?
     M: Yes, the train comes in about half past four, but it's twenty past four now. I have only ten minutes!
     W: How often does the bus run?
     M: Every ten minutes. I missed a No. 1 bus 15 minutes ago,and the next one hasn‘t come yet!May I borrow your bike, Xiao Hong?
     W: Sorry, Mike borrowed it this morning. He went to see his uncle.
     M: Oh, what shall I do then?
     W: Why not take the No.7 bus? It also goes to the station.

     M: I don‘t know what to do about Jane. She’s so difficult to work with. She keeps forgetting to pass on important messages, and she won‘t let anybody help her when she’s busy. W: Have you actually talked to her about this?
     M: That‘s part of the problem. I’ve tried to discuss the problem with her, but she always says she‘s too busy to stop and talk. I’ve even tried asking her to have lunch with me, but she doesn‘t want to. W: I think I’d better have a chat with her. How long has she been like this?
     M: Oh, it‘s been several weeks now.
     W: Well, I’d really like to have known about the problem earlier. Never mind, I‘ll see what I can do.
     M: Thanks very much.

     W: Well, I‘m looking for something I saw at a friend’s house a few days ago. He said he bought it here. It‘s a golden metal desk lamp quite fit for my study.
     M: Take a look at some of the model pictures here and see if you can find the right one.
     W: Picture 2 at page three seems to be the one I’d like to have.
     M: I‘m sorry we don’t have it in stock right now.
     W: Oh, that‘s too bad. Are you going to be getting more?
     M: They are on order. But I should warn you that the price has gone up. The new ones will be 2 dollars more. They were $12.50 last week. Come back next week if you like. We should have them by then. W: Okay, I‘ll be back.
