1.基本用法
apart表示“分開”、“相距”、“離開”等，可以用于時間(time)、距離(distance)、關系(relation)、狀況(condition)等;另外從所表示的狀態(tài)來看，它既可表示靜態(tài)的“相距”或“相隔”;也可表示動態(tài)的“分開”或“離開”等：
The two villages are about two kilometers apart. 這兩個村莊相距約兩公里。
Their views are wide apart. 他們的看法相去甚遠。
During that time we were never apart. 在那段時間里人我們從不分離。
I can't get the two things apart. 我不能把這兩樣東西分開。
He and his wife are living apart. 他與妻子沒有住在一起。
She keeps herself apart from other people. 她與別人保持距離。
2.易錯說明
表示具體的時間或距離時，應置于其后，而不應像漢語那樣置于其前：
這兩座房子相距200米。
正：The two houses are 200 metres apart.
誤：The two houses are apart 200 metres.
我們倆的生日剛好相差一個月。
正：Our birthdays are exactly a month apart.
誤：Our birthdays are exactly apart a month.
3.用于提問
詢問相隔多遠時，要用 How far apart...?

4.關于apart from
用于短語apart from(在美國英語中通常用 aside from)：
①表示“除...外還有”(=besides)：
Apart from the cost, it will take a lot of time. 除了花費外，它還需要不少時間。
Apart from being too large, the hat doesn't suit me. 除了太大外，這頂帽子我戴也不合適。
②表示“若沒有”、“除...外”(=except for)：

ago與before的用法區(qū)別
1)兩者均可表示在多久時間“以前”(要放在表示一段時間的詞語之后)，但有區(qū)別：ago從現(xiàn)在向前回溯，即現(xiàn)在的過去，因此通常與一般過去時連用;而 before則從過去向前回溯，即指過去的過去，因此通常與過去完成時連用(尤其用于賓語從句中)。如：
I bought the computer two years ago. 我是兩年前買這臺電腦的。
He said they had left five days before. 他說他們 5 天前就離開了。
注：在表示推測或為使語境生動的句子中，有時也可用ago代替before.如：
He must have left a week ago. 想必他在一星期前就離開了。
I had thought that he had died at least 20 years ago. 我原以為他至少在 20 年前就已經(jīng)去世了。
(2)before 有時單獨使用(即不連用具體時間)，泛指一般意義的“以前”，此時可用于一般過去時，也可用于現(xiàn)在完成時。如：

一、much修飾比較級
修飾比較是副詞much的常見用法，“much + 比較級”的意思是“更……”“……得多”。如：
It‘s much colder today than it was yesterday. 今天比昨天冷得多。
It was much worse than I thought. 它比我想像的還要糟得多。
We will be a much better football team next year. 明年我們將會成為一支更好的足球隊。
二、much修飾級
much修飾級應置于級前的定冠詞之前，而不是之后。“much + the + 級”的意思是“最最……”“絕對是最……”。如：
This is much the most difficult. 這是最最難的。

四、much修飾副詞too

This is much too heavy for you to lift. 這東西太重，你拿不起來。
注意：much too與too much詞序不同，用法也不同。從句法功能上看，much too的用法與too相同，但比too的語氣更強;而too much在用法上則與much相同，但比much 語氣更強。比較：
He drives much too fast. 他開車開得太快了。
The shoes are much too small for me. 這鞋子我穿太小了。
There is too much rain. 雨水太多了。

五、much修飾介詞短語
much主要用于修飾由like，in，to等少數(shù)介詞所構成的介詞短語。如：
The baby doesn‘t look much like you. 這嬰兒長得不大像你。

六、much修飾動詞
much修飾動詞時，通常只用于否定句或疑問句中，一般不能用于肯定句中(除非前面有very，too，so等之類的修飾語)。如：

注意以下誤句：
誤：She likes him much. / She much likes him. (因為它用于肯定句，且其前沒有修飾語，故不正確)
但是，不帶修飾語的much有時也能在肯定句中修飾動詞，但這通常只限于 admire，affect，appreciate，dislike，enjoy，look forward to，prefer，regret等少數(shù)動詞，且much通常只能放在句中，不放在句末。如：

七、much修飾as
