不過，從前英國人認為腦袋里有蛆蟲（maggot），只會使人產生種種古怪念頭。所以，說人家異想天開，他們會說have a maggot in one's head，例如：You must have a maggot in your head if you believe that Mr. Patten genuinely cares about Hong Kong people （假如你以為彭定康先生真的關心香港人，那是異想天開了）。
