1 1. 表示“雖然”時(shí)，不要根據(jù)漢語習(xí)慣，在后面使用連詞 but, 不過有時(shí)它可與 yet, still, nevertheless 等副詞連用。如：
他雖然年紀(jì)很大了，但還很強(qiáng)壯。
正：Although he is very old, (yet) he is quite strong.
誤：Although he is very old, but he is quite strong.
但是在一定的上下文中，類似下面的 although 與 but 連用的句子是可能的 (注意 but 引出的句子在 although 從句之前) 。如：
But Ididn’t know that then, although I learned it later. 但我當(dāng)時(shí)的確不知道此事，盡管后來還是知道了。
2. 有時(shí)用于主句之后，起補(bǔ)充說明的作用，相當(dāng)于 however, but。如：
He is poor-- although he is well contented. 他很窮，然而卻能知足常樂。
The price increase will obviously be unpopular, although it’s unlikely to reduce demand. 價(jià)格升高顯然會(huì)不受人歡迎，然而這不大可能會(huì)降低人們的需求。
3. 若主從句主語相同，且從句謂語含有動(dòng)詞be, 可將從句主語和動(dòng)詞 be 省略。如：
Although (he is) quite young, he knows a lot. 雖然很年輕，但他很懂事了。
In any case, she was very lovablealthough not at all tidy. 不管怎么講，她還是很可愛的，盡管一點(diǎn)也不愛干凈。
4. 不能用于 as though (好像)，even though (即使) 等習(xí)語中代替 though, 也不用于讓步狀語的倒裝形式中。
