作者自述：這可能是我寫過的同類文章中最長最詳細的了。這類文章寫了很多，以前往往都注重分析比較“邪門”的東西，這次我更注重生活和工作中的實用英語的解析，并做了更多的聯(lián)想和延伸?？催@些東西自然能夠進步，不過對于英語基礎(chǔ)薄弱的朋友來說，學英語就像學功夫，站好馬步是最重要的一步，而不能一上來就練把式，熱衷學習花里胡哨的東西，整一些沒用的。有功夫還是要多看看語法，對于你理解任何文體都是很有幫助的。
1. You still positive that you don't want me to tag along? 你現(xiàn)在還是不要我一起去么？
Positive在這里=sure，這個句子的意思就是“You want me to tag along, right?”這里的positive就相當于yeah。用positive代替yes，yeah，是很普遍的?？谡Z中還可以用pository。
Tag along有點“沒人叫你就自己主動跟著去”的意思，被跟著的人可能會覺得不耐煩。比如：Why my mom always tags along with me 我媽干嘛老是跟著我啊/我媽真是陰魂不散，煩死了。
小時候我老是跟著外公去喝喜酒，那時候很喜歡熱鬧。年紀慢慢大了，外公就覺得再讓我tag along就不好了，所以有一次我自動到樓下等他下樓帶我去喝喜酒，那個老人家從窗戶爬了出去……后來我就再也沒tag along了。
例句這句話是Dan的爸爸說的，后來他又說了句：I can bring a date. 意思是“我可以帶個女士。”
2. The cool exterior. The fire below. 外表冷淡，內(nèi)心熱情似火。
這是包括我在內(nèi)的男生喜歡的一類女生。這句話是Chuck為了勾起B(yǎng)lair的情欲而對她說的。下面這句是Blair口是心非的反駁，很weak。
3. Not’s that it’s any of your business, but Marcus and I have an amazing sex life. 雖然這與你沒任何關(guān)系，不過我要告訴你，我和Marcus性生活很和諧。
Not’s that 相當于although，比如：Not’s that I want to kill her. It’s just, I don't want her to be alive anymore… 這句話也體現(xiàn)出Blair嘴巴厲害，刻薄，而且爭強好勝死要面子的性格特點。
4. Stay calm. I’m sure the power will be back on in a second. 別慌。馬上會來電的。
“停電”可以用power cut/outage 或者blackout表示。
5. I didn’t sign up for some creepy love triangle. 我當初可不是為了惡心三角戀而和你在一起。
Sigh up for something 的意思是“要做或參與什么事情”。這句話差不多等于：我當時可不知道你還會勾搭其他女人。
6. Honestly. Catherine, so what? 哎呀，Catherine，你又想怎樣呢？
Honestly這里不是“說實話，坦誠地講”的意思，而是表現(xiàn)一種不耐煩和不滿，相當于“你也真是的”。
而后面Marcus撞見Blair 和Chuck在臥房里親熱后奪門而出對追趕出來的Blair說了句：Did you really not know it was him? Can you honestly tell me that?”里的honestly 則是“說實話，老老實實跟我說”的意思。
7. It’s not like I can fire you twice. 我又不能炒你兩次魷魚。
關(guān)于解雇的說法，有下面一些表達：
1）…and he cans me.
他炒了我魷魚。
Can someone=give sack to / sack someone / dismiss someone / give pink slip.
Pink slip 是個俚語，指a piece of paper giving notice of dismissal from employment; any dismissal from employment. 比如：I got a pink slip today. I guess I had it coming.
Pink slip 也可以用作動詞：If you make no headway at work, I’m going to have to pink slip you.
2）be dismissed = to be fired被解雇、被炒
如果你因為能力不足或者做錯事，你被dismissed，fired，sacked，terminated，如果你沒做錯事，能力也足以應(yīng)付工作，而因為行業(yè)不景氣，企業(yè)由于自動化而所需人員減少、老板看你不順眼等原因而丟了工作，你是被laid off，made redundant，offered early retirement，公司的減員則用downsize。
8. I don't really feel like talking. 我現(xiàn)在不是很想說話。
Feel like=want to，如果在舞會上問女士想不想跳支舞可以用“care to dance?”，如果問人家是否要喝杯東西可以用“fancy a drink?”，不過記住，能把want用好也就行了。
9. I cannot believe that Nate Archibald is a gigolo. 真不能相信 / 真沒想到Nate Archibald是個吃軟飯的。
10. I don't really have a choice. 我沒得選。
之前Nate還說過“I don't have an option.”也是這個意思。另外一個表示“可能性中的選擇”的單詞是alternative。例句：Expressions that are identified as slang are often some type of entertaining wordplay, and they are almost always an alternative way of saying something.
