德國羅斯托克大學(xué)醫(yī)學(xué)院招聘醫(yī)學(xué)生物信息學(xué)博士后
One 3-year postdoc and two PhD student positions
Medical Bioinformatics (stem cell data analysis)
Faculty of Medicine, University of Rostock, Baltic Coast, Germany
One 3-year postdoc and two PhD student positions are available for enthusiastic scholars in the Medical Bioinformatics group at the University Hospital Rostock.
Applicants should either hold a doctorate or a diploma/masters degree (or equivalent) in the life sciences or in computer science, physics, chemistry, mathematics or a related area. They should have previous experience in data analysis and programming. A keen interest in science is more important than previous experience in the field, although experience with (high-throughput) biological data such as microarrays, with biological databases and with comparative / evolutionary analysis and machine learning is considered a plus. One position is earmarked for stem cell data analysis (multipotent progenitors of kidney cells, funded by the German ministry (BMBF)). In this project, methods of machine learning and evolutionary analysis will be applied to molecular data of multipotent kidney cells (genome, transcriptome, interactome) to study the regulatory and interactory circuitry behind multipotency and cellular differentiation. The project is part of a collaborative effort of the medical departments of Greifswald, Rostock and Aachen, applying in-silico analyses in a field with exciting prospects, fighting kidney failure by replenishing dysfunctional cells from progenitors.
From spring to fall, the Baltic Coast is the number one vacation area in Germany, with a very pleasant climate and a wide variety of recreational opportunities.
Please email applications to Georg Fuellen (bioinfo-jobs@med.uni-rostock.de) (one PDF file, consisting of cover letter, CV, statement of research interests and qualifications, and contact information for 3-4 scientists who may write a letter of recommandation). Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
Unfortunately, due to strict state regulations, application expenses cannot be reimbursed. Therefore, it is likely that applicants from outside Europe will only be shortlisted if they indicate that they may fly to Germany for a personal interview at their own expense. Women are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants with disabilities will be preferred if they possess equal qualifications.
