A boy of six who became the youngest artist to have work displayed at a British Watercolour Society exhibition promptly sold every painting on show.

A boy of six who became the youngest artist to have work displayed at a British Watercolour Society exhibition promptly sold every painting on show.
Edward Simpson‘s four bold, brightly coloured pieces, entitled Dog, Cat, Sheep and Grandad, were snapped up for ?50 each in less than two hours.
Edward was the only one of the 275 painters to sell all their work at the society‘s 100th show, at the Winter Gardens in Ilkley, West Yorks.
He comes from a family of artists that can be traced to the 17th century.
His father Nigel Simpson, 38, was commissioned to paint the Queen Mother 25 years ago and his grandfather Leslie is a portrait artist and illustrator of the children‘s book Ollie the Whimsey Collie.
Leslie Simpson, 75, from Harrogate, North Yorks, said: "His school couldn‘t believe how detailed and skilled his drawings were. I think it must be in the genes.
"Edward really is a natural. He has an eye for art. It‘s something that you can‘t teach at such an early age, but Edward just knows what to do instinctively."
Mr Simpson added: "It was a real achievement for him to be accepted in the British Watercolour Society‘s exhibition and he has set a bit of a precedent being the youngest ever. We are extremely proud of him."
Keith Peters, who bought Dog as a Christmas present for his daughter, said: "We felt very honoured to buy one of Edward‘s paintings."
The three generations of Simpsons have a joint exhibition of their work in February at Harrogate Theatre.
