REPORTER:
Was there anyone inside?
FIREMAN:
No... no one.
REPORTER:
And have you got the fire under control?
FIREMAN:
Yes,we have.
REPORTER:
Well,did you have any difficulties?
FIREMAN:
Not really...
REPORTER:
What about that paint shed?
Were you worried about it?
FIREMAN:
Yes...a little ... but it's O.K. now.

1. ASKING FOR INFORMATION 了解情況
用特殊疑問(wèn)句:
What's happened?
Where's the fire?
When did it start?
Whose house is it?
Who lives here?
用一般疑問(wèn)句
Did you see the fire?
Has the fire brigade arrived yet?
Was there anyone inside?
(要了解情況,也不限于使用這兩種問(wèn)句,但這兩種問(wèn)句用得最多.)
2. GIVING INFORMATION 提供情況
現(xiàn)在看一看上面有些問(wèn)題可以怎樣回答.
What's happened?

3. WAYS TO CHECK,CLARIFY AND CORRECT INFORMATION
核實(shí)情況,進(jìn)一步說(shuō)明情況,糾正錯(cuò)誤說(shuō)法
a) Checking Information 核實(shí)情況

Are you sure/certain?
用反意疑問(wèn)句,例如:
He's the owner,isn't he? (反意疑問(wèn)句還有其他用途)
b) Clarifying Information 進(jìn)一步說(shuō)明情況

CONVERSATIONAL DEVICES
What I mean is.../I mean...
這兩個(gè)說(shuō)法常在會(huì)話中用來(lái)表示要作進(jìn)一步說(shuō)明.例如:
a) BARBARA:
I don't like black. What I mean is, it isn't my favourite colour.
b) JOHN:
I'm not hungry. I mean I don't feel like eating.
PRONUNCIATION CORNER
在廣播里可以聽到英語(yǔ)問(wèn)句使用的兩個(gè)主要語(yǔ)調(diào):
1. 特殊疑問(wèn)句,末尾通常用降調(diào):
Who came?
When did it happen?
2. 一般疑問(wèn)句,末尾通常用升調(diào):
Do you know?
Is she coming?
Has he finished?
