片語ward off something中的ward本來意思是“保護、防守”，從字面上看，這個片語意思是指“因為離開(off)而起來保護作用”，所以含有避開某物而得到保護，使之不受傷害的意思，我們常直譯為：“避開某物或某人?！盩o ward off something means to do something to try to protect yourself from something bad, such as illness, danger, or attack. 大家都知道，手是最容易滋生細菌的地方，醫(yī)生常告訴我們要常洗手，從而避開疾病的侵襲，看看下面的句子是如何說的：

棒球運動是一項很有觀賞價值的運動項目，人們常常為選手打出了一支全壘打而歡呼雀躍。這又讓我想起了英文中的另一個片語hit a home run, 它的意思就是“打出了一支全壘打?！北热纾?BR> I like to play baseball game at the park! I always hit a home run!
