Midnight sun is a state of mind. Time makes no sense in this world. You can leave your watch in your suitcase.

The children will roller-skate（溜旱冰） down the streets in the middle of the night ---- with sun in their faces. Small motorboats（汽艇） chug（發(fā)出軋軋聲前進） out of the harbor（海港）. Groups of people sit on the rocks here and there, enjoying the never-ending sunlight.

The northern lights（北極光） are no less impressive（給人深刻印象的）. White, yellow, green and red, they sweep（掃清） across the dark sky in a state of eternal（永恒的）, rapid（迅速地） flux. Northern lights appear all year round in Greenland, but they can only be observed（看到） against a clear, dark night sky. They appear at a height（高度） of about 100 kilometers (65 miles) and have the shape of a flapping curtain（窗簾） or points radiating（放射） from a single dot（點）.
北極光也不遜色。白黃綠紅，這些顏色從空中橫掃而過，不停地快速變化著。格陵蘭附近一年四季都有北極光，可只有在晴朗的黑色天幕襯托下，我們才能一睹它的風(fēng)采。在100公里以外，它們看來就像飄動的簾子或是放出光芒的小點點。

1．flux
a state of flux是固定用法，表示“變遷”、“不斷的變化”等。與上面eternal（永恒的）, rapid（迅速地）和起來，意思就是“永遠不斷地迅速變化著”。
2．Height是名詞，意思是“高度”，主要有以下一些用法：
（1）表示身高，如填表時人家可能會說：
State your age, height, and weight.
填上你的年齡，身高和體重。
