1.如何獲取段落的主旨和大意
獲取段落主旨和大意，有效的辦法是找出主題句。主題句一般具有三個(gè)特點(diǎn)：
(1)表述的意思比較概括，相對(duì)其他主句來看，這種概括性更為明顯。
(2)句子結(jié)構(gòu)比較簡(jiǎn)單，多數(shù)都不會(huì)采用長(zhǎng)、難句的形式。
(3)段落中其他的句子必定是用來解釋支撐主題句所表述的主題思想。
2. 如何根據(jù)上下文猜測(cè)詞義
猜測(cè)詞義也是一種英語閱讀能力。英語閱讀試題中有不少這樣的題目。猜測(cè)詞義時(shí)，我們可以從三個(gè)方面來考慮：(1)根據(jù)上下文已知部分進(jìn)行邏輯性推理；(2)運(yùn)用語法知識(shí)進(jìn)行語法分析；(3)依靠常識(shí)和經(jīng)驗(yàn)做出判斷。
根據(jù)上下文猜測(cè)詞義的方法有下列幾種：
①根據(jù)定義或解釋猜測(cè)詞義。如：A bag is useful and the word “bag” is useful. It gives us some interesting phrases. One is “to let the cat out of the bag”. It is the same as “to tell a secret”…Now when someone lets out a secret, he “l(fā)ets the cat out of the bag”.
短文后面有這樣一個(gè)閱讀理解題：John “l(fā)ets the cat out of the bag”means he _______.
A. makes everyone know a secret.
B. makes a woman buy a cat.
C. buys a cat in the bag.
D. sells the cat in the bag.
在這篇文章里，“l(fā)ets the cat out of the bag”雖然是一個(gè)新出現(xiàn)的短語，但緊接著后面就給出解釋It is the same as “to tell a secret”，根據(jù)這一解釋，我們就可以判斷出正確答案應(yīng)為A。
②根據(jù)并列、同位關(guān)系猜測(cè)詞義。
例如：In the northeast of the United States, summer temperatures are very different from winter temperatures. Summer is usually hot, and winter is usually cold. Spring temperatures are warm, and fall temperatures are cool.
文后有這樣一道閱讀理解題：The word “fall” in this passage means ______.
A. drop B. down
C. autumn D. spring
盡管fall一詞，課本里沒有出現(xiàn)過，但根據(jù)文中的并列關(guān)系，文中出現(xiàn)了夏季、冬季和春季，我們就可以猜出fall 就是autumn.
除了前面提到的方法外，還可以根據(jù)同義、反義、因果關(guān)系猜測(cè)詞義。
