9 tips to ease the SOHOs

字號:

There are too much advantages to be a SOHO than sit in an office, but there are disadvantages too.
To me, for example, I don't know where should I start to describe my working condition. Generally, there are two cats, two dogs, and a flock of fish and lots of birds chirp incessantly. Sometimes, cars roaring through with extremly annoying songs of buffo on the audio, but these are not the worst. What makes me unendurable is the over-alerted dog which would bark incessantly when I make noise a little bit louder. There are a lot of times when I was recording a podcasting or a clip of vedio, it would bark somehow, which made me to repeat to record agaian and again. Sometimes, it would barking crazily for couple of minutes just because someone is knocking the door. . There's a sequence of days, I can't finish my media job. Besides, there are some others interferences such as the clamorous frequent visiting. I have to learn to work in such circumstance, no other way.
actually, I feel lucky for my house is located in a quieter place in the city. I can walk to the forrest when I feel the noise in house is unbearable.
If your working conditon is noisy too, then the tips below may be helpful:
    1, work in basement.
obviously, it's not adapted to everyone. If you have the condition, then try. First set up a Wireless Router (with stable signal connection, of course), then when you think the noise is annoying, take your notebook and "runaway".
    2 go to the coffees
It sounds crazy, isn't it? There are someone who do work freely in a certain noisy environment. For example, I like to work while listening to music, but as long as someone is talking--no matter in TV or real life--I feel annoying.Someone particularly like the condition of coffees.(Actually, when I was writing a novel, I perfer to walk out to some public places such as restrant, coffees or stations where I can get some dialogs to bulid characters in novels.)
    3, go to the library
recently, college libraries are not such quiet places, but public libraries keep its own tranquility. Of course, college libraries will be a good choice to do researches for there are a plenty of materials including expensive periodicals. If you are a college student or alumnus, you can probably get in touch with these materials.
    4 put on your earphones
Sometimes I found it's necessary to put on earphones when working in my college library. You can do it at home as long as the music won't disturb you. Of course, you should make sure which kind of music makes you ease and effient.
5 use a white noise generator
I perfer to use software of white noise generator. it's not free, but it's worth the money.I use the NPP version( Neuro-Programmer Professional). I can choose duration and types of waves (alpha, beta, theta, etc.) If choose the right waves, it relaxes me without lulling me into sleep.
6, buy a load of eggs
egg shells are, actually, perfect material for sound insulation, especially the side without foam. If you can stick some of the shells on the wall, or just nail them, the environment will be very quiet. If you are playing guitar and feel dreary or non-inspirational, this method may help you.
7 list things you have to do
You can consider the task management system or some other ways to list all you have to do.These methods don't need high attention. After all, when you indeed cannot do some worthy things, you may finish others. Try to list things when you feel most annoyed, sending a email, issuing an invoice or just babbling.
    8 adjust the time
as a SOHO, a re-refered advantage is you work flexibly. Everytime I have to podcast or do voiceover, I adjust the time to leave the quietest period for the jobs. For me, it's not a piece of cake, you know, I am distubed almost everytime!
9, blend into them if you cannot avoid them.
If the noise or other interferences are too loud and strong, then take a rest! Listen to music, watch films, or walk outside, do something else.
Ok, then, my dear readers, how do you overcome the interferences when you work at home?
