The CNFC is directly under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of State Council. Its predecessor is the china Non-Ferrous Metals Foreign Engineering Corporation. Founded in 1983, it is one of China’s earliest foreign economic enterprises. The principal business of the corporation is to develop non-ferrous metal resources that are in acute short supply in China and contract economic undertakings with enterprises in China and abroad. It jointly develops network information technology, finance, real estates, tourism and other industry and commerce. At present the CNFC possesses a dozen or so all-capital and state-holding subsidiary companies in China and abroad. It has over30 agencies and business enterprises, with a total capital of over 50 billion RMB. In 1998 CNFC won the certificate of international quality specification system (ISO9001).
