字號(hào):

Happiness Depends on Solving Problems
There is a saying that happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them. Yes, if there are no problems, we will have no development, because the problem can lead us to think and to practice, which makes us develop further. If we have no development, we cannot have true happiness. Therefore, our happiness does not rely on the absence of problems but our ability to deal with them.
If we want to grasp true happiness, we should improve our abilities to deal with them. Now that the problems have appeared, firstly what we should do is not to ignore them but to pay our attention to them. Secondly, we should think about them and analyze what we can do to handle them. Thirdly, put our hands to the solving of the problems.
After you have solved the problems, you will feel very happy, as solving the problems brings you a feeling of achievement. Therefore, if we are encountered with problems in our life, welcome them and solve them. In the process of solving one problem after another, you will feel happier and happier.
It is an established fact that the topic concerning happiness has aroused stormy discussions in newspapers, television and network. So what is happiness? When it comes to the above-mentioned question, people opinions vary widely. While some people hold happiness equal to nonexistence of problems, others stand on a different ground, for they argue that happiness results from confronting and addressing problems instead of disregarding or avoiding them.
While the pace of people’s living is speeding up, the happiness index is lower and lower. According to the recent statistic conducted by CCTV—China's most influential television station, people who hold that they are in a state of unhappiness account for 78%. This phenomenon is mostly due to the different attitudes towards happiness. To my mind, for one thing, it is necessary to keep positive mind when confronting with unpleasant things. For another, cooperation is of great significance in our life.
On the basis of the analysis above, we may draw a conlusion that keeping optimistic, cooperative, and stronghearted, combined with being persistent and decisive, really count in dealing with problems and being happy. Only people who are skilled in handling problems can fully enjoy happiness and success.
When it comes to the question “what does happiness mean to you?”, different persons may put forward various answers, some say that happiness is a life entirely free of trouble. While others hold the opinion that happiness is not the absence of problems, but lies in the course to copy with the difficulties. In my opinion, I am strongly in favor of the latter one.
For example, I am weak in spoken English in college, thus in every oral class I am always the silent one, let alone to communicate with my classmates. At that time, how miserable my life is! As time goes on, I gradually realize that I must change it. So I actively take part in English corner. I am not afraid of making mistakes, just in the hope of learning as much as possible from others. In the course of learning, I really get a sense of happiness.
Now I clearly know what happiness is, it is the kind of feelings which we obtain through the course of settling the problem, it is also the sense of achievement which requires us to make great efforts to deal with the trouble.
To paraphrase our forefathers: Happiness is not the absence fo problems, but the ability to cope with them. The following examples can illustrate this viewpoint.
For example, Mandera, a well-known African political leader, suffers countless misery and faces a series serious problems. However, he is a happy man and easy to admire. Because he eradicates the inequality in Africa and makes a disproportionately contribution to African development.
Take a look around ourselves. The number of students who taking part in the entrance examinations for the postgraduate schools has swollen by about 11% every year. They confront with various problems including learning, psychology, and health. But they still are happy. Because with the help from WenDu the students can develop the ability to address all problems.
To ensure to develop this ability, you can do a lot. For instance, if you are reluctant to tackle problems, you can change thinking mode and eradicate pessimistic attitudes.
    The Way to Happiness
When it comes to the topic of “happiness”, the opinions of people usually distinguish from each other, which gives rise to the heated discussion among the public concerning the way to achieve happiness. As the saying goes,“Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them.” I personally agree that the ability to cope with complications in. Life is the right path of pursuing happiness.
However, how could we deal with daily troubles or even struggles could generate serious concerns? From my perspective, to begin with individuals, optimism could perform an essential character. According to a survey conducted in certain institution in China, the percent of people with optimistic attitudes far outweighs the opposite in the aspects of overcoming dilemmas, thus having better opportunity to achieve the sense of happiness.
In addition, in terms of the society, certain institutions in China should launch relevant campaigns to strengthen the emphasis putting on the resolving of a problem, not the way trying to avoid it or even to neglect it. In spite of the fact that this may be a long run, these methods of coping with problems could definitely contribute to happiness in our consistent efforts.
With regard to happiness, opinions may vary from person to person. Some people take it for granted that happiness is the pursuit of the external materials. While others choose to stand on the opposite side. As the saying goes, “Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them.”
What the saying illustrates is the significance that happiness derives from the optimistic mind to deal with problems rather than avoid them. Only when we spare every effort to cope with the obstacles and setbacks we are encountered with, can we taste the fruit of success. Those who can suffer years of toil and accumulate experience will genuinely feel happy. For instance, Helen Keller, one of the most world-renowned women writers, who was born deaf and blind, has completed the magnificent works ‘If I have three days’ with her tenaciousness and persistence.
In my view, we are supposed to show an optimistic attitude and develop the ability to cope with them when we are confronted with the obstacles. I firmly hold the view that you will surely experience the pleasure of happiness the moment you are equipped with the ability to solve the problems.
Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay on happiness by referring to the saying “Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them.” You can cite examples to illustrate your points and then explain how you can develop your ability to deal with problem and be happy, you should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

To solve problem, to taste happiness
“What is happiness?” is a cliché topic. Everyone has a different definition to the true meaning of happiness. For Franklin Roosevelt, “happiness is not the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.” For Elbert Einstein, “if you want to live in a happy life, tie it to the goal, not the people or the things.” Although the two great men grant different definitions to happiness, there is something in common, that is, happiness derives from the capacity to solve problems. I believe that this is true.
There is no denying that life is full of problems. Let’s take environmental pollution for example. Pollution poses a great threat to our existence. Fortunately, this public hazard has drawn our greatly attention and many effective measures are being taking to solve it. In fact, now the public are benefiting more and more from pollution prevention and control. We can enjoy clear air, health food and beautiful scenes again. Isn’t this happiness?
All in all, indeed, equipped with the ability to cope with problems should suppose to be happiness. In other worlds, in the middle of problems lies happiness.
