The Construction Bank, one of the four biggest banks in China, has made a significant step in the process of preparing to trade publicly in the foreign market for the first time, after the KPMG international has completed auditing its financial situation. The bank will possibly trade publicly in Hong Kong and New York stock market next year. The international investors have always been keeping a close eye on the auditing process of the Construction Bank and the Bank of China, because the financial situation of the two will determine their own issue price and the level of the demand of their stocks. The Bank of China is also planning to issue USD 4 billion stocks overseas. And the Chinese government hopes to liquidate the assets and debts of the state-owned banks through the first public issuance. With giving decades of dictating loans, these banks all have burdened heavy bad debts. It is said by relevant experts that, because of the incomplete data of the profits and malignant loans in these banks, the discussion between the Construction Bank and its consultant will probably take several months. But once this auditing is completed, the Construction Bank will win the competition by entering the international capital market in advance of the Bank of China. Besides, it is said that there are more than five financial group corporations, including Citibank, GE capital and ING group, who have officially expressed their interest in purchasing the equity of the Construction Bank before it trades in the stock market.
