I don’t think it’s important for filmmakers to remain true to the original story.
I mean we should make a clear difference between a film and a documentary.
Films are for people to watch to entertain;
Documentaries, on the other hand, are for people to watch and be educated.
Learning is learning; entertainment is entertainment.
If you want to keep true to the original story so that your movie can be a textbook,then don’t make a movie, make a program for the Discovery Channel.
If you make a movie, don’t always try to teach the audience a lesson.
Make an exciting movie,and then the box office is high, and more interesting movies will be made. (票房)
Some real stories are simply not movie materials.
That’s why the directors often adapt the stories. (改編)
With the adapted movie story, the director can show us the montage of a movie. (蒙太奇)
