Equity
Excess over the debit balance (money borrowed) in a stock account.
Excess Margin
Equity in a stock account above the legal limit required for margin maintenance in a long or short account.
Restricted Account
When equity falls below the minimum margin maintenance a customer may not make further purchases without additional deposit.
Buying Power
Amount of money available in a margin account to buy securities based on excess margin divided by the margin requirement.
Margin Call
Amount of additional cash or securities that must be deposited in an account if equity falls below minimum margin maintenance level.
