As we prepare to mark another Anzac （<第一次世界大戰(zhàn)時(shí)>澳洲與新西蘭軍團(tuán)的兵員；澳洲軍人）Day， we reflect upon the way in which this day has grown rather than diminished in the consciousness of all Australians. It has without doubt become the most revered and special day of a distinctly Australian nature in our annual calender.
We remember the sacrifices， the supreme sacrifices of more than 100，000 Australians in all the wars in which this nation has participated. We especially call to mind the valour and courage of those young Australians who landed at Anzac Cove on the 25th of April 1915， thus beginning a great legend which has shaped our national outlook and character.
And importantly today we think especially of the men and women of the Australian Defence Forces serving abroad. In the Gulf region， they participated so magnificently in the recent war against Iraq， in East Timor， in Bougainville， and elsewhere. They are today抯 Anzacs， they deserve our salutes and our gratitude and they have our enduring respect.
