Software Engineer
Responsibilities include:
- Designing new software solutions or modifying existing solutions to ensure proper functionality in earlier (customer deployed) software releases.
- Participate in the troubleshooting and solving of complex software and system issues encountered in customer sites.
- Assistance with issue resolution may include analyzing and identifying problems using advanced debugging skills and tools, recreating these problems in a Lab environment, locating the flaw in software and finally, generating and testing software fixes to correct the flaw. Interfacing with other team members and people in other groups will be necessary.

Product Verification
There are positions available in the Product Verification team to work on Nortel's Carrier Network, Enterprise System. As a member of the Verification team you are exposed to all aspects of product development, and your responsibilities are focused on working with design and project teams to ensure the customer requirements and product quality objectives are met.

Software Test Tools Developer
Short description:
You will develop, enhance and support software tools aimed at improving the productivity of Nortel R&D. Our portfolio concentrates on tools for automated testing, capacity / performance / robustness / security testing, and the creation of virtual network environments for nodal testing.
You will work in a small virtual team based in Beijing and North America. You will work collaboratively with designers and product testers in Nortel R&D in Beijing, North America and elsewhere to understand their needs. You will become expert in various protocols: SIP, Diameter, H248, HTTP, etc., and how Nortel network nodes and those of other vendors use these protocols to communicate.

Software Design Environment Operation Specialist
Short description:
You will work on configuring and supporting the Nortel SDE (Software Design Environment), through the following activities:
- 1st- & 2nd-level support, tool/process deployment, project tool sustaining (e.g. Rational ClearCase, Telelogic DOORS, Eclipse... and Nortel in-house tools)
- Involvement in efficiency actions to increase R&D design quality and performance of current SDE

Lab Operations Engineer
Lab Operations team provides a range of R&D lab project management, lab infrastructure engineering and product technical service to our design and verification teams. We support a full Voice and Data portfolio products for NGN, ATM, Enterprise Switch, CDMA, GSM and OAM Server.
As a member of this dynamic team, you will be focusing on lab project planning and execution; building lab tools and infrastructure; managing equipment / system setup and functionality testing; and providing a technical consulting role to lab users.

RF Engineer or I&C Engineer
Scope of Position:
1. Responsible for providing Wireless Network designs and technical support for Wireless Customers in the Greater China Region. Work with the Customer's Engineering staff as well as Wireless Core Engineering experts. RF engineering include GSM/CDMA/WirelessLAN/WiMAX cell planning, neighboring plan and Optimization. Plan and develop the RF Design and provide solutions utilizing Nortel technologies.
2. Responsible for hardware provisioning, testing and system commissioning, integration and feature testing.
Key Accountabilities of Position:
1.) Developing RF network solutions based on customer's coverage requirements, KPI demands, capacity constraints, new features and technologies.
2.) Responsible for gaining the skills to ensure the technical content on network projects by analyzing the customer's requirements and ensuring that the network solutions proposed will meet the optimum needs of the Wireless customer.
3.) Provide support to customers for questions or issues and works to respond in a timely manner.
4.) Apply technical knowledge to issues related to the development of the RF Network Design & Optimization. 5.) Provide RF design or Optimization analysis report for both internal and external purpose.
6.) Learn the system structure, related system command and could do the system verification, testing and basic trouble shooting.
7.) Learn to apply the patch and study the patch fix/solution and verify it.
8.) Develop this engineer to have skill sets at using tool/testing instrument for issue/test analysis and learn - how to check the CSR database.

All deliverables are reviewed by a Sr. Engineer or team leader prior to supplying to customers. The incumbent has to judge if a project or task requires skills beyond his/her abilities and requires escalation to Sr. Engineer or Manager level (need to know how and when to escalate).
Problem Solving Requirements:
This position requires problem solving and analysis of customer networks to determine the necessary upgrades, additions or modifications of a network that are required to meet the customer or project requirements. Problems are mostly well defined.
Leadership Skills Required:

This position is required to interact with engineering team leads/leaders, internal customers such as Project Management/Marketing/Field support and external customers such as Network Operators.

Responsibilities include:
- Designing new software solutions or modifying existing solutions to ensure proper functionality in earlier (customer deployed) software releases.
- Participate in the troubleshooting and solving of complex software and system issues encountered in customer sites.

Short description:
You will develop, enhance and support software tools aimed at improving the productivity of Nortel R&D. Our portfolio concentrates on tools for automated testing, capacity / performance / robustness / security testing, and the creation of virtual network environments for nodal testing.
You will work in a small virtual team based in Beijing and North America. You will work collaboratively with designers and product testers in Nortel R&D in Beijing, North America and elsewhere to understand their needs. Lab Operations Engineer
Lab Operations team provides a range of R&D lab project management, lab infrastructure engineering and product technical service to our design and verification teams. We support a full Voice and Data portfolio products for NGN, ATM, Enterprise Switch, CDMA, GSM and OAM Server.
As a member of this dynamic team, you will be focusing on lab project planning and execution; building lab tools and infrastructure; managing equipment / system setup and functionality testing; and providing a technical consulting role to lab users.

RF Engineer or I&C Engineer
Scope of Position:
1. Responsible for providing Wireless Network designs and technical support for Wireless Customers in the Greater China Region. Work with the Customer's Engineering staff as well as Wireless Core Engineering experts. RF engineering include GSM/CDMA/WirelessLAN/WiMAX cell planning, neighboring plan and Optimization. Plan and develop the RF Design and provide solutions utilizing Nortel technologies.
2. Responsible for hardware provisioning, testing and system commissioning, integration and feature testing.
Key Accountabilities of Position:
1.) Developing RF network solutions based on customer's coverage requirements, KPI demands, capacity constraints, new features and technologies.
2.) Responsible for gaining the skills to ensure the technical content on network projects by analyzing the customer's requirements and ensuring that the network solutions proposed will meet the optimum needs of the Wireless customer.
3.) Provide support to customers for questions or issues and works to respond in a timely manner.
4.) Apply technical knowledge to issues related to the development of the RF Network Design & Optimization. 5.) Provide RF design or Optimization analysis report for both internal and external purpose.
6.) Learn the system structure, related system command and could do the system verification, testing and basic trouble shooting.
7.) Learn to apply the patch and study the patch fix/solution and verify it.
8.) Develop this engineer to have skill sets at using tool/testing instrument for issue/test analysis and learn - how to check the CSR database.

All deliverables are reviewed by a Sr. Engineer or team leader prior to supplying to customers. The incumbent has to judge if a project or task requires skills beyond his/her abilities and requires escalation to Sr. Engineer or Manager level (need to know how and when to escalate).

This position requires problem solving and analysis of customer networks to determine the necessary upgrades, additions or modifications of a network that are required to meet the customer or project requirements. Problems are mostly well defined.
