not all，not any，not both，not either
    這四個(gè)片語在涵義上各不相同。
    not all的意思是“非全體”，相當(dāng)于only some；not any的意思是“全不”，相當(dāng)于none；not both作“僅一個(gè)”解，相當(dāng)于only one；not either作“兩個(gè)都個(gè)”解，相當(dāng)于neither．
    請對比下列各句：
    I do not know all of them．
    我僅認(rèn)識他們之中的幾個(gè)人（或一部分人）。
    I do not know any of them．
    這些人我一個(gè)都不認(rèn)識。
    I do not know both of them．
    在這兩個(gè)人中，我只認(rèn)識一個(gè)。
    I do not know either of them．
    這兩個(gè)人我一個(gè)也不認(rèn)識。
    上面四個(gè)句子亦可改寫為：
    I know some of them．
    I know none of them．
    I know only one of them．
    I know neither of them．
    值得注意的是，not all指“并不是所有的…都…”，not both指“并不是兩個(gè)…都…”。在英語中，它們稱為“部分否定”（partial negation）。另有一些英語副詞和not 搭配使用時(shí)，也是表示類似的涵義。例：
    not always＝sometimes
    not everywhere = somewhere
    not entirely＝somewhat
    not wholly＝in some degree/to some extent
