說到美麗事物，人們大概都會想到花。唐朝施肩吾《少婦游春詞》寫的“簇錦攢花斗勝游，萬人行處最風(fēng)流”絢麗景象，到今天還是教人神往的。英國詩人白朗寧（Robert Browning,1812-1889）也寫過一路鮮花的美景:
It was roses,roses all the way
With myrtle（桃金娘） mixed in my path like mad.
行來一路薔薇笑，爛漫金娘爛漫狂。
白朗寧這兩行詩膾灸人口，后來，人們就用roses all the way來比喻一帆風(fēng)順或一切順利。不過，人生不如意事常八九，所以，這成語一般是用在否定句子里的，例如:
After quitting school,he soon realized that life was not roses all the way
他輟學(xué)之后，很快就發(fā)覺人生道路不是處處都順利的。
