按lip-service一詞源自十七世紀(jì)，本來是指那些上教堂做禮拜（attend service）的人，祈禱時(shí)只是嘴唇（lips）微動(dòng)，機(jī)械似的背誦禱文，完全不思考禱文含義。后來，人們就用lip-service一詞來說毫無誠意的口惠，往往和pay這個(gè)動(dòng)詞連用，例如:
