英語(yǔ)句子最常用的方法是通過使用一些關(guān)聯(lián)詞，如 and、or等，或標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號(hào)如：分號(hào)，逗號(hào)，破折號(hào)等，若干個(gè)在語(yǔ)義上有聯(lián)系或相互照應(yīng)的單詞、詞組或子句連在一起組成一種并列或平行結(jié)構(gòu)的長(zhǎng)句，以表達(dá)一個(gè)復(fù)雜得多層次含義。這種句式雖然難度不一定很高，但在復(fù)雜長(zhǎng)句中還是占了相當(dāng)大的比例的.
Classroom ：
1. Now,Shaw is exaggerating,but there is something in what he says,and the question is worth following up,for the sake of the light it throws on modern knowledge。
要 點(diǎn)：本句是由并列連詞but，and引導(dǎo)的并列復(fù)合句。在第三個(gè)分句中it throws on modern knowledge是定語(yǔ)從句，修飾名詞light，定語(yǔ)從句的引導(dǎo)詞that被省略?！皌hrow light on sth.”的意思是“make sth. clear”。
參考譯文：當(dāng)然蕭伯納是言過其實(shí)了，但他所說(shuō)的也確實(shí)有些道理，這一問題值得進(jìn)一步探討，因?yàn)樗鼤?huì)幫助人們看清現(xiàn)代知識(shí)的真實(shí)情況。
2.It was mostly he who talked and he seemed afraid to stop for fear she’d ask him to leave her by herself.
要 點(diǎn)：這是一個(gè)由and連接的并列復(fù)合句。And前面的句子是強(qiáng)調(diào)句，強(qiáng)調(diào)的成分是he。for fear(that)=in order that…should not happen意為“生怕，以免”，to leave her by herself=to leave her alone。
參考譯文：大部分時(shí)間都是他在講話。他似乎害怕停下來(lái)，生怕話一停，她就會(huì)請(qǐng)他離開。
