    BARRY IS UNUSUAL

    2--I think so, but I don’t remember what he looks like.

    從句都是way的定語從句。第一個從句說:he has a certain way of speaking and choosing his words。第二個從句說 his way is unique.unique:獨特的;獨一無二的。
    3)go beyond speech:難于用語言表達。類似的短語有:beyond words/beyond expression/beyond description
    4)charisma:超凡的魅力,神授的能力。

    1--Did you hear about what happened to Howard?

    1--Someone stole his car!

    1--Last night. He left it parked in front of his girl friend’s house and when he came out to go home, it was gone.
    2--Wow! That’s really tough. He just bought it last month, didn’t he?
    1--Uh-huh. Fortunately, he’s got insurance and the police think they already have a good lead.

    5)lead:線索。
    6)wish him luck:wish表示祝愿,其后接雙賓語。

    2--Yes. I do remember. He felt it would be a candidate for some film awards at the end of the year.
    1--Well, if I were one of the judges, I’d pick it as the best film of the year. I haven’t seen such a marvelous plot and such superb acting in a long time!
    2--Sounds as if I’ll have to see it, if they ever re-run it.

    1--He sure did! As soon as he got to the top of the building, the cops were there to grab him!
    2--And he’ll have to pay a fine, of course.
    1--In this guy’s case it looks as if he might have to go to jail, too!
