此類名詞與to一起構(gòu)成固定結(jié)構(gòu)“名詞+ 介詞to”，可分為兩類：
1.某些固有名詞，如admission ， access ， answer ， approach ， barrier，key ， right， solution 等；
2.由相關(guān)動詞派生而來的名詞，如exposure， objection， reaction ， response等。

此類形容詞后接介詞to，構(gòu)成特定搭配，可分為三類：
1.某些固有形容詞，如contrary， cruel，
equivalent， indifferent， parallel ， relevant ， second ， sensitive，similar 等；
2.形容詞superior， inferior ， senior ， junior 等，這些詞雖然都是原級形容詞，卻含有比較意味，后面都不能用than表示比較，而必須用to；
3.由相關(guān)動詞派生而來的形容詞，如addicted， applicable ， comparable，preferable等。
