"rain check" 其實(shí)是像比賽等因?yàn)橄掠甓悠? 大會(huì)發(fā)給觀眾用來(lái)?yè)Q取下次入場(chǎng)卷的憑證。在美國(guó), 如果遇到拍賣（on sale）的物品賣光了, 同樣可以要求填寫(xiě) "rain check".當(dāng)新貨到后, 商家可以通知你, 讓你以拍賣價(jià)把東西買(mǎi)回家。平常生活中, 如果你因故必須取消某個(gè)邀約, 對(duì)方也許也愿意要求一張 "rain check" 喔！

3. flop 失敗 （的人或事）

B： Personally, I think it's a flop.
B： 就我個(gè)人來(lái)說(shuō), 我覺(jué)得我它蠻失敗的。
"flop" 還可用來(lái)形容撲通（掉下、摔下）的動(dòng)作。我有一只愛(ài)撒嬌的胖貓； 牠常常跑到我面前, 忽然撲通倒地, 要我?guī)退Χ嵌?。此時(shí)我就可以用 "flops down on the floor" 來(lái)形容它。
4. tailgate （開(kāi)車時(shí)）緊跟在后
A： I wish the person （car） behind us could stop tailgating us.
A： 真希望我們后面那個(gè)人（那部車）可以不要再緊跟我們。
B： I know. That's annoying.
B： 對(duì)??！ 好討厭。
