英語新聞系列講座詞匯特色之六
英語新聞報刊詞匯的顯著特色之一就是經(jīng)常摻用外來語，尤其是新聞報道中記者提及外國的或新近出現(xiàn)的事物時，為引起讀者的興趣與注意，或更貼切地表達某詞語的內(nèi)涵，這種現(xiàn)象就更為突出。有些外來語，由于經(jīng)常使用或使用時間已久，已經(jīng)完全英語化，印刷時往往不再用大寫字母或以斜體字標出，如：visa[（法語）簽證]，blitz[（德語）閃電行動]，kungfu[（中文）功夫]，Go[（日語）圍棋]等。如：
PRETORIA(Agencies via Xinhua)-Nelson Mandela took the oath of office yesterday to become South Africa's first black president in a glorious celebration ending the agony of apartheid and marking the country's return to the world community.

（persona non grata：[拉丁語]不受歡迎的人）美國總統(tǒng)比爾·克林頓通過驅逐一名不受歡迎的人來表現(xiàn)其強硬立場；俄羅斯人傲慢地侮辱整個間諜案是“宣傳上的反攻”。
