美國教師常用的英語委婉語
教師一方面要如實反映情況，另一方面又要顧及學(xué)生的心理健康、承受能力，要緩解直言的沖擊，委婉語的運用是完全必要的。以下的婉轉(zhuǎn)陳述方式是美國教師經(jīng)常采用的。
1. 學(xué)生很笨
直言：The student is obtuse.
婉言：He is a bit slow for his age. (他反應(yīng)較慢。)
He seems to be mentally retarded.(他看來智能較弱。)
2. 學(xué)生懶惰
直言：The student is lazy.
婉言：I'm afraid he has to exert himself in his study.(恐怕他在學(xué)習(xí)上對自己得施加壓力。)
Probably he has to devote himself more diligently to his studies. (可能他要在學(xué)習(xí)上更勤奮些。)
He is sure to go far if he can use his resources fully.(如果他能充分利用其智力，他一定能學(xué)得更好。)
He needs to raise his ambition level a bit. (他需要增加一點雄心。)
