The sporting road to success!

THIS May the world's eyes will be on Australian Christopher Harris. The 15-year-old is planning to climb Mount Qomolangma, eager to be the youngest person to top the world's highest peak (山頂).
Starting rock climbing at the age of five, Harris has conquered four of the world's seven highest peaks.
Do you admire his wonderful experiences? Actually, you also could achieve big goals, as long as you try your best.
Harris took to rock climbing because he likes the sport. He said he is crazy about overlooking (俯瞰) the world from peaks. But unlike him, most Chinese students are sorry to say goodbye to their favourite sports games. They are told to put all their heart and soul into studying and spend less and less time outdoors.
But hours of sitting indoors not only makes teenagers sick of school work, it also causes health problems.
Life is certainly more than just study. Why not take part in some wonderful activities that you like, as Harris did? It would do your health good and help shape your character.
Sports provide us with the opportunity to learn how to deal with important aspects of life. Through it, teens compete and cooperate with others; they deal with success and failure. Sports also teach much about achievement and persistence (堅持) in the face of difficulties.
However, it is dangerous to be too intoxicated (沉迷的) with sports to take care of your school work. For real success, a good education is still needed to know more about the world and to improve yourself.
Hu Kai, a junior at Tsinghua University who won the 100-metre sprint (短跑) at the Macao East Asian Games, is good at balancing the two sides. During high school his favourite sports like football helped his sports skills as well as the development of a strong character, which benefited his studies. After months of hard work, he was finally accepted by Tsinghua University for both his sporting talent and excellent performance in the college entrance examination.
So, stop locking yourself in, go out for some sports fun. A break in studies, it will make you fresh and energetic every day and could even lead to an extraordinary life!
