在運(yùn)動(dòng)比賽中常用嗚槍作為“開(kāi)始起跑”的信號(hào)，所以 jump the gun 這個(gè)片語(yǔ)指的是“在正式嗚槍之前就先偷跑”。在日常生活當(dāng)中老美常用 jump the gun 來(lái)指“太早行動(dòng)”，也就是 start too early 的意思。比方說(shuō)人家明明規(guī)定是 15 號(hào)發(fā)薪水，但是你硬要 14 號(hào)去問(wèn)人家支票下來(lái)了沒(méi)，旁人就可以規(guī)勸他：“Don't jump the gun because they usually start distributing paychecks on the 15th. (不要太早去，因?yàn)樗麄兺ǔＪ逄?hào)才開(kāi)始發(fā)薪水。)”當(dāng)然遜一點(diǎn)的講法也可以用“Don't go too early.” 來(lái)代替這個(gè) “Don't jump the gun.”

I just want to remind you to close the gas tank cap. (不要太快生氣，我只是想提醒你油箱蓋忘了關(guān)上了。)”
