    Entering Undergraduate Merit-Based Scholarships
    Entering Undergraduates USC administers 17 prestigious scholarship programs ranging from $500 to full tuition. Unlike loans,scholarships do not have to be paid back. They are awarded based on academic excellence,leadership,service,talent,and the criteria detailed below. Recipients must enroll full time(16 units each semester)and maintain a cumulative GPA at USC of 3.0 or higher. If an interview is required,candidates will be contacted. Selection for an interview does not imply the awarding of a scholarship or admission to USC. Meeting application requirements and minimum criteria does not guarantee that you will receive a particular scholarship. Recipients of our scholarships often exceed the minimum criteria.
    Trustee Amount:Full tuition(approximately $33,500)

    Selection Criteria:For entering freshmen only. Candidates are selected by USC faculty and staff from an extremely competitive international pool. Applicants pursue the most demanding curriculum and achieve at the highest level. Average SAT and ACT scores are in the top 1-2% of all students nationwide. In addition to academic criteria,candidates‘talent,involvement,and leadership are considered.
    Application Process:Freshmen must submit a completed 2007 Undergraduate Application with required materials by December 11,2006. An interview required for final candidates. Candidates will be contacted by the Office of Admission in February if they have been selected to interview.

    Presidential Amount:Half tuition(approximately $16,750)

    Selection Criteria:For entering freshmen only. Candidates are selected by USC faculty and staff from an extremely competitive international pool. Applicants pursue the most demanding curriculum and achieve at the highest level. Average SAT and ACT scores are in the top 1-2% of all students nationwide. In addition to academic criteria,candidates‘talent,involvement,and leadership are considered.
    Application Process:Freshmen must submit a completed 2007 Undergraduate Application with required materials by December 11,2006. An interview required for final candidates. Candidates will be contacted by the Office of Admission in February if they have been selected to interview.

    National Merit Finalist Presidential Amount:Half tuition(approximately $16,750)

    Selection Criteria:Selected on the basis of PSAT performance. Entering freshmen are considered if they have been designated as National Merit Finalist and name USC as their first-choice college with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

    Selection Criteria:For entering freshmen only. Applicants take the most demanding curriculum and achieve at the highest level. Competitive candidates will be in the top of our applicant pool with respect to GPA and SAT or ACT. Strong emphasis is placed on leadership in school and community service.

    International Freshman Academic Amount:Half tuition(approximately $16,750)
    Selection Criteria:For entering freshmen only. Competitive candidates will be in the top of our applicant pool with respect to SAT,will typically be in the top 10% of their high school class,and will have extensive experience living and studying outside the U.S.
    Application Process:Submit 2007 Undergraduate Application by December 11,2006. Submit all supporting documents,including proof of financial support,by January 10,2007. No additional scholarship application is required.

    Jewish Leadership Amount:$10,000

    Selection Criteria:Entering freshmen only. Competitive candidates will be in the top of our applicant pool with respect to GPA and SAT or ACT. Emphasis is placed on leadership within and outside the Jewish community. Recipients are expected to become involved with the USC Jewish community and are asked to volunteer with prospective Jewish student recruitment activities.

    Selection Criteria:For entering transfer students only. Selected based on grade point average in transferable courses and rigor of course selection. Last year‘s recipients had an average GPA above 3.7 and had completed more then 30 transferable units at the time their application was submitted.

    Norman Topping Student Aid Fund(NTSAF)

    Selection Criteria:The purpose of the NTSAF is to assist entering students with high financial need who demonstrate extraordinary levels of community awareness in their pursuit of higher education at USC. Given the spirit of the Fund,applicants who reside in communities immediately surrounding the University Park and Health Sciences campuses,in addition to first-generation college students,receive primary consideration in the selection process. Note:The NTSAF is not limited to these populations.
    Application Process:Submit a completed 2007 NTSAF Scholarship application by the postmark deadline of February 15,2007. An interview is required for final candidates.     Selection Criteria:Open to freshmen and transfers. Applicant must be related to a Half-Century Trojan(graduate of 50 years ago or more)。Selection criteria include academic achievement,potential for leadership,and community service.

    Selection Criteria:Open to freshmen and transfers. Applicant must be the son,daughter,brother,sister,grandchild,or great-grandchild of a USC alumnus. Competitive freshman candidates will be in the top of our applicant pool with respect to GPA and SAT or ACT. Transfer applicants must have a minimum 3.6 GPA. A personal interview is required.

    Selection Criteria:Open to freshmen and transfer students. Strong emphasis is placed on leadership and academic performance. Competitive freshman candidates will be in the top of our applicant pool with respect to GPA and SAT or ACT. Transfer applicants must have a minimum 3.6 GPA. Each alumnae group that awards scholarships has individual qualifications. A personal interview is required. Primarily awarded to California residents.

    Selection Criteria:Open to all U.S. citizens who reside permanently in Southern California. Competitive freshmen candidates will be in the top of our applicant pool with respect to GPA and SAT or ACT. Current students must have a minimum cumulative GPA 3.0. Transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.6. Campus and community involvement is important and a personal interview is required.

    Asian Pacific Alumni Assoication Amount:$1,000-$2,500
    Number of Awards:10-20
    Selection Criteria:The USC Asian Pacific Alumni Association Scholarship program awards scholarships to outstanding students on the basis of academic achievement,personal merit,financial need and ability to contribute to the Asian Pacific American Community. Applicant must be a full-time student(undergraduate,transfer,graduate or professional)enrolled in a USC degree program or will be enrolled(in the case of an incoming first-year,transfer or graduate student)for the entire year. Applicant must have achieved a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average(on a 4-point system)in his/her high school or college work. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident of the U.S.
    Application Process:Must apply for federal,state,and university financial aid and in most cases,subsequently qualify for financial aid in order to be considered for an APAA scholarship. Trustee Scholars are not eligible. Submit the APAA scholarship application,autobiographical essay,two letters of recommendation,and an official transcript by Feb. 2,2007. Application will be available November 2006.     Selection Criteria:Awarded to undergraduate Hispanic students on the basis of academic achievement and demonstrated financial needs and commitment to the Hispanic community.
    Application Process:Must apply for federal,state and university financial aid. The MAAA supplementary application(available January 2007)is due by May 31,2007.
