我教授跟我們說，他以前在美國(guó)教書，有一些球隊(duì)學(xué)生從沒念過書，但是大學(xué)也是要畢業(yè)，之後就可以進(jìn)入職籃打NBA，退休後常常就回到母校當(dāng)球隊(duì)教練。
第「1」串：Alma Mater 母校

有一位學(xué)生（姑且叫喬丹）要畢業(yè)了，但是微積分怎樣都過不了這樣不能畢業(yè)打NBA?。?BR> 第「2」串：calculous 微積分
The course 'Calculous' is so difficult for me that I am afraid it is impossible to pass the exam.
於是就請(qǐng)他的教練，也是學(xué)校球隊(duì)的教練來幫忙求情。
第「3」串：to beg for leniency 求情
It is no use begging for leniency here, and the only think you can do now is to get ready for the make-up exam.
教練∶“教授，請(qǐng)你一定要讓喬丹過啊NBA渴望他很久了！”
教授∶“好吧！既然教練都來幫忙求情了，就給你最後一次機(jī)會(huì)”
第「4」串：to long for 渴望
We are longing for the final result of the test.
“一加一等於多少？”
喬丹馬上不思考地回答∶“二”
教練∶“教授，請(qǐng)?jiān)俳o他一次機(jī)會(huì)吧！”
第「5」串：to give another shot 再試一次
You'd better give it another shot. I am sure you can make it.
