先王之義勝
子夏見曾子。曾子日：“何肥也？”對曰：“戰(zhàn)勝，故肥也?！痹釉唬骸昂沃^也？”子夏曰：“吾入見先王之義則榮之，出見富樂以榮之。兩者戰(zhàn)于胸中，未知勝負，故癯。今先王之義勝，故肥?！?BR> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

子夏去拜訪曾子。曾子說：“您為什么胖了呢？”子夏回答說：“我因為打仗打勝了，所以變胖了?！痹诱f：“這句話是什么意思呢？”子夏說：“我從外面回到家里，在書上看見古代圣王的正道，就覺得那種正道很崇高；從家里出去，在路上看見有錢有地位的快樂，以覺得那種快樂很榮耀。兩種感覺在我心里打仗，我還不知道哪個勝，哪個敗，所以我很瘦?，F(xiàn)在古代圣王的正道在我心里打勝了，所以我就胖啦?！?BR> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE RIGHTEOUS WAYS OF ANCIENT KINGS TRIUMPH
Zixia visited Zengzi said ：“How is it that you got so fat ？” Zixia responded saying：“ I triumphed in battle and consequently got fat ” Zengzi. said ：“ What does that mean？” Zixia said：“ When I entered my house， I saw written in books the righteous ways of the sage kings of antiquity and thought them magnificent； when I went out of my house， I saw in the streets the pleasures of wealth and rank and also thought them splendid. These two sentiments fought within my breast， and I knew not which would triumph and which would be defeated； hence， I was emaciated. Now， the righteous ways of the sage kings of antiquity have triumphed within me； hence， I have become fat.”
