Sutton Park lies six miles to the north of Birmingham City Centre and covers over 970 hectares (2,400 acres)。 Its landscape is a mix of open heathland , wetlands, marshes, seven lakes and woodlands, all with their own rich variety of plants and wildlife rarely seen in the region.
    In 1997, English Nature designated Sutton Park a National Nature Reserve and its many sites of archaeological interest have earned the park a place in English Heritage's list of historic parks and gardens.
    Activities which can be enjoyed in the park include walking, cycling, angling, bird watching, horse riding and orienteering.
    The park has several restaurants, an 18-hole golf course, a donkey sanctuary, a children's playground and access for people with disabilities, making it an ideal venue for all the family.
    The Visitor Centre has displays and exhibitions based on nature conservation , information on nature trails, guided walks, craft days and other Events. These activities are organised by the Sutton Park Rangers who are part of the Birmingham Parks Ranger service.In addition, the Rangers offer a range of curriculum based activities for schools.
