What Do We Learn from Struggle against SARS
In the past two months , atypical pneumonia ---- also known as SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) ---- has been spreading in China. Beijing has been reported as the most affected area. SARS has also been found in a couple of cities and provinces including the Inner Mongolia , Guangdong , Hebei , Shan Xi , and other places. Because SARS is a kind of severe infectious disease which can even take away the patients’ lives. In addition , there have been no effective measures found to cure the disease immediately so far. Consequently , SARS has caused some restlessness among people . It has also affected a lot on different occupations such as the transportation, the medicine , the traveling, the school education , etc. .
Though SARS is so terrible a disease , Chinese people do not retreat in the face of the disease. They show the people all over the world a good example of bravery and unselfishness in the face of the great difficulty. During the struggle against the SARS , not only the doctors and nurses who have been working at the first line against SARS have shown us the great courage and unselfishness at the risk of their lives but also the patients have shown their bravery . On the other hand, people all over China do what they can do to help fight against the spreading of SARS. So far, there is good news on TV that SARS has been under control. Chinese people are winning the struggle against SARS.
Then, what do we learn from the struggle against SARS ? It is obvious that bravery and unselfishness have played an important part in the fight against SARS. We should not be afraid of the unexpected difficulty. If we have the presence of mind in front of the great difficulty, if we can do our best to do what we can to help each other, the ultimate victory will surely belong to us.

A week ago, one of my friends ,Xiao Ming, was ill because of the infectious disease ---- SARS. He then was sent to the special hospital to receive special treatment. As is known, the SARS is a terrible disease which may cause the lose of the patient life. Consequently, it has caused greatworryamong people in society.
The other day I went to visit Xiao Ming with our teacher. All of us were clearly aware of the potential danger of the infection. Yet, we did not give up because of the fear of being infected. In our mind, there is only one word that he needs help just as we would need help if we were there. At the time , care and friendship occupied our mind. Xiao Ming was very surprised to see us. He suddenly lost his words and just looked at us with tears in his eyes.
What does it tell us? When a person is in trouble, what is the urgent thing he needs? What will the others ,including his friends, his parents, his classmates, his teachers,do to help him out or let him be? After the incident, I think that we should help each other. As the proverb goes, God help those who help themselves. You help other people who are in trouble . When you are in trouble , those you helped or not helped will of course come to help you. If each of us can do like this, can a more peaceful and beautiful world be far away?
