rub it in
    Meaning: to do or say something intended to make one feel worse.
    Example: I know I paid too much for the car; you don't have to rub it in. ( 我知道這車我買得太貴了,但你也沒必要刺激我嘛。)
    這個(gè)習(xí)慣用語實(shí)際上是由rub salt in the wound 縮短而來,而中文里正好有個(gè)蠻對應(yīng)的說法,即:往傷口上撒鹽。另外,rub it in也可以表示向別人反復(fù)地講某件不太愉快的事,如: Father never failed to rub it in/into the family how much they depended on his money.
