    99、Woe is me. Me thinks I’m turning into a god. --- Vespasian
    吾即苦難。我想,我將轉(zhuǎn)為神。
    woe means deep distress or misery, as from grief; wretchedness.是指悲慘或悲哀、深深的痛苦或苦惱,如因悲傷;不幸。
    Woe also means misfortune; calamity,是指不幸;災(zāi)難的意思。例如:economic and political woes.經(jīng)濟(jì)和政治的災(zāi)難。
    我們再來看一下下面的句子:
    W-is me!(=W-to me!)  我真不幸!
    W-(be) to sb. (=W-betide sb. !)  (詛咒語)愿某人倒霉!
    W-worth the day!  今天真倒霉!

    scandal有很多意思。
    1.A publicized incident that brings about disgrace or offends the moral sensibilities of society: 丑聞帶來不光彩或觸犯社會道德標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的公開事件。
    例如:a drug scandal that forced the mayor's resignation. 導(dǎo)致市長辭職的毒品丑聞。
    There was a great scandal when we found out that the doctor had been sent to prison for stealing.  我們發(fā)現(xiàn)這位醫(yī)生因偷盜而被送進(jìn)監(jiān)獄,真是個大丑聞。
    2.A person, thing, or circumstance that causes or ought to cause disgrace or outrage:
    令人憤慨的人引起或應(yīng)引起不光彩或憤慨的人、事或情形。
    例如:considered the housing shortage a scandal. 認(rèn)為住房短缺是個丟臉的事。
    3.Damage to reputation or character caused by public disclosure of immoral or grossly improper behavior; disgrace.
    恥辱由于不道德或極不合適的舉動的公開曝光而造成的對其名聲或品格的傷害;丟臉。
    4.Talk that is damaging to one's character; malicious gossip.
    惡意誹謗講對某人品質(zhì)有損的話;惡意的流言蜚語。
