英文中“準(zhǔn)時(shí)”的表達(dá)法大致可舊納為二類
一、由介詞on構(gòu)成的習(xí)語
1.on tirne表示恰好在規(guī)定的時(shí)間
Mary is always on time for an appointment瑪麗總是準(zhǔn)時(shí)赴約
2 on schdule是美國人較喜歡用的習(xí)語，表示恰好在時(shí)間表規(guī)定的時(shí)間。
The alarm clock woke him up on schedule鬧鐘準(zhǔn)時(shí)將他鬧醒
3.on the dot／on the tick 前者的dot可能由鐘表面代表鐘點(diǎn)數(shù)的小點(diǎn)轉(zhuǎn)義而來，后者的tick由鐘行走時(shí)的嘀嗒聲轉(zhuǎn)義。兩個(gè)習(xí)語都表示非常準(zhǔn)時(shí)。另外,on the tick主要用于英國英語
The guests arrived at eight on the dot客人們八點(diǎn)鐘準(zhǔn)時(shí)到
The plane took off at six on the tick 飛機(jī)六點(diǎn)鐘準(zhǔn)時(shí)起飛
4.on the stroke該習(xí)語中的stroke由報(bào)時(shí)鐘聲轉(zhuǎn)義
He was here on the stroke 他準(zhǔn)時(shí)來到這里
二、由介詞to構(gòu)成的習(xí)語
這些習(xí)語有to the minute to the （very） moment , to the tick等。它們都強(qiáng)調(diào)分秒不差。第三個(gè)習(xí)語主要用于英國英語，其中的tick為轉(zhuǎn)義
He wakes up every morning at 7 o'Clock to the minute他每天早上七點(diǎn)鐘準(zhǔn)時(shí)醒來。
He always comes to tbe tick他總是來得十分準(zhǔn)時(shí)。
三、其它方法
具體時(shí)間＋sharp／具體時(shí)間十prompt這里的兩個(gè)詞均作副同用。
Please be there at 12:30 sharp（prompt)請(qǐng)于十二時(shí)半準(zhǔn)時(shí)到那里。
punctual／punctually強(qiáng)調(diào)來自條約性的“嚴(yán)守時(shí)刻”含義。
He makes it a point of being punctual every day for his work（for class)他決定每天準(zhǔn)時(shí)上班（上課）。
