一般情況下,現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí)就是表示眼下正在發(fā)生的事情,但是,有時(shí)候,這種意境會(huì)被有所夸大,從而賦予了它一種特殊的含義。
示例1:Everyone is losing money these days.(其實(shí)丟錢的人還是少數(shù)的,但對(duì)于說話者來說,可能聽到丟錢的事情好幾次了,所以,就夸大了一點(diǎn),變成了人人、隨時(shí)隨刻都在丟錢了!)
示例2:She is always eating.(always一般是與一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)配合使用的,但這里很清楚,是與現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí)配合;其實(shí)呢,這個(gè)she不可能是什么時(shí)候都在吃東西的,但說話者夸大之下我們也可以悟出一些道理來,那就是這個(gè)人吃東西的頻率還是很高的!)
3.關(guān)于It could be worse.
這類說法非常有水平:在表示事情還沒有糟糕到的時(shí)候這么說,會(huì)讓人立馬感受到說話者的幽默和水準(zhǔn)。譯成中文可以這樣講:事情還沒有壞到頂;還算好;還算幸運(yùn)。。。
再如:It couldn’t be worse! 簡(jiǎn)直糟透了!
再如:It could be better. 還沒好到頂。//還可以更好些。
