As one of thousands of other English learners in China you have grasped the basic English grammer after a long time studying in schools. One of the most urgent problems should be the limited vocabulary. You often find that you could not even know what an article says in a newspaper or a magazine. Your small vocabulary also causes some other problems when you do the listening practice or converse with somebody. So how to enlarge your vocabulary quickly? That's what I want to talk about with all our visitors today.
In my opinion, the best way to learn more words is through reading--widely reading, different kinds of materials, never give up will certainly make you succeed!
How can we get the stuff? What I suggest is to subscribe to one or two excellent papers or magazines which are wholely published in English. There are some very good ones in our own country. Here is a list for your reference only as the following:
China Daily--The most authoritative and famous daily paper published in English
21 Century--An important and popular weekly issue recommended for mid-level readers
Beijing Review--Colorful and exquisit magazine with beautiful pictures
Shanghai Star--A localized magazine mainly edited for the readers in Shanghai and some nearby areas
How do we use the stuff? That 's another important question which I want to answer. Well, Whenever you begin your reading, always get ready an English-Chinese dictionary--better with English explanations. Remember that you have to find out the meaning of EVERY new word in your dictionary. Keep on doing this unless you are sure you can understand much of the writing. Then step by step, you will feel that there are fewer and fewer new words need to learn! Congratulations! You are gaining your final success!
