pretend means make pretensions,表示假裝，矯作的意思。
這里，我們來看一下下列幾個詞：pretend、feign、assume、affect ,都含"假裝"的意思。
pretend指"感覺到某事,而在言行上裝出是真的",如: pretend not to hear 假裝沒聽見。
feign指"精心裝有或裝作",如:feign deafness 裝聾。
assume指"裝出有某種感情的樣子,以掩飾其真正的感情",如:
She assumed a look of sorrow. 她假裝著悲傷的樣子。
affect指"為達到某種效果而假裝有某種特征或情感",如:affect a British accent裝英國腔。
