An absent-minded professor went to the doctor for a check-up.“Stick out your tongue and say'ah'”said the doctor. The professor obeyed. “Your tongue looks all right, but why the postage stamp?”asked the puzzled medico. “Oh,”cried the patient,“so that's where I left it!”這當(dāng)然不會是出于真實生活中的笑話，天下不會有如此失魂的教授的。
啡友W說對初學(xué)英語的朋友，像go to the doctor for a check-up，看醫(yī)生檢查身體之類的說法要學(xué)會如何運用。例如傷風(fēng)去看醫(yī)生：go to the doctor for a cold等。還要注意的是medico（口語中的“醫(yī)生”，亦用以稱“醫(yī)科學(xué)生”代doctor，是避免一詞重復(fù)再用的寫法。但最重要的是so that's where I left it中的so不可和that's…… 連續(xù)，要停頓一下，因為它是表示突然醒悟的“啊”。失魂的教授說：“啊，那個，我忘記放在那兒啦！”
