Helen: This is Real English from BBC Learning English. I’m Helen.
Chen Li: And I’m Chen Li
Helen: Today let’s put on our business thinking hat and talk business.
    Chen Li: ok then.在今天的Real English節(jié)目里,讓我們來談?wù)撋虅?wù),那么今天給大家準(zhǔn)備的是什么詞語呢?
Helen: Today’s business magic word is ‘globalisation’.
    Chen Li: Globalisation.為什么不說說它的中文意思呢?
Helen: Well, globalisation is often used in business English. You use it to talk about businesses or companies that operate all over the world.
    Chen Li: 在世界各地經(jīng)營(yíng)的公司?
Helen: Literally all over the world. Here’s an example. You know McDonald’s the fast food chain.
    Chen Li: Of course 大家都聽說過麥當(dāng)勞
Helen: Yes. It is now possible – because of globalisation – to eat McDonalds in almost any country in the world. You can get a big Mac in Moscow, Rio or Sydney.
    Chen Li: 我知道了. Globalisation 就是全球化,當(dāng)一個(gè)企業(yè)在全球市場(chǎng)發(fā)展時(shí)。
Helen: It’s a noun, but you also have the verb to globalise. So you could say ‘their company has globalised’.
    Chen Li: 也可以作為動(dòng)詞來用。這個(gè)公司已經(jīng)全球化了。
    Insert 錄音片斷
A: Why is the dollar so important?
B: Well, it’s all down to globalisation, isn’t it.
    Chen Li: 你認(rèn)為全球化,是一件好事情嗎?
Helen: I’m not sure. It has advantages and disadvantages, I think.
    Chen Li: 好處是什么呢?
Helen: Well, there are certain types of product that you can get anywhere in the world these days because of globalisation.
Chen Li: And that’s an advantage?
Helen: I guess so. There are disadvantages too.
    Chen Li: Which are?
Helen: Well, some people feel that globalisation is destroying local cultures. Everything is becoming the same.
    Chen Li: I agree。 I feel the same. 好了,讓我們來復(fù)習(xí)一下,globalisation ,就是全球化,指在全球市場(chǎng)上發(fā)展和經(jīng)營(yíng)的公司。
Helen: You’ve been listening to Real English from BBC Learning English.
Chen Li: See you next time.
