聽力：第三級(jí)的題型為對話和短文理解，共25個(gè)題，形式為四選一，所占分?jǐn)?shù)權(quán)重為30。
詞匯：PETS第三級(jí)要求考生應(yīng)掌握4000左右的詞匯以及相關(guān)詞組，語言知識(shí)運(yùn)用部分體現(xiàn)在選詞填空這種題型上。它是綜合考查應(yīng)試者英語水平的題型。
閱讀：PETS第三級(jí)的閱讀量大于高教自考和大英四級(jí)的閱讀量，題型除了多項(xiàng)選擇還有選擇配伍，即要求考生閱讀幾個(gè)案例后選擇出相關(guān)的歸納總結(jié)句與各案例相匹配。
寫作：PETS第三級(jí)寫作內(nèi)容包括書信(100詞)和圖表、圖畫情景作文(120詞)兩部分。
