中國古代社會以皇帝為中心，實行皇權(quán)至上和皇權(quán)專制的政治制度。它以君權(quán)神授學(xué)說為理論基礎(chǔ)，用嚴(yán)格的名位等級、禮樂制度和皇位繼承等各種規(guī)定和措施，集中突出皇帝個人的權(quán)威地位，保證皇帝高踞于國家機(jī)器之上，擁有至高無上、不受制約的絕對權(quán)力?；实壑贫茸怨?21年秦始皇創(chuàng)立，直至1916年袁世凱的垮臺而徹底廢除，前后歷時2137年。

Emperor System
The ancient Chinese society adopted the political system featuring imperial power supremacy and aristocracy with an emperor as the center. With the divine kingship theory as the theoretical basis, it adopted various strict regulations and measures on status and ranking, rite system and throne succession, to give prominence to the personal authority of the emperor and ensure the emperor was above the state apparatus and held supreme and unrestricted absolute power. The emperor system, spanning 2,137 years, was established by the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty in 221 BC and was abolished completelywith the collapse of Yuan Shikai in 1916.
