分封制也稱分封制度或封建制，即狹義的“封建”制度。它由共主或中央王朝給宗族姻親、功臣子弟、前朝遺民分封領(lǐng)地和相當(dāng)?shù)闹螜?quán)，屬于政治制度范疇。分封制與宗法制互為表里，緊密結(jié)合，在家庭范圍內(nèi)為宗法制，在國家范圍內(nèi)為分封制。

The System of Enfeoffment, also known as title granting system or feudalism, i.e. the "feudal" system in the narrow sense, falls within the category of a political system and features the granting of domains and some governance power to the family members, relatives, families of meritorious statesmen and the adherents by the central government. The patriarchal system is the basis of the system of enfeoffment: the former is reflected in the category of family and the latter in the national category.
