15 is said to be the number of pounds that many students gain in their first year of college; and freshman 15 is the often observed phenomenon of weight gain among first year college students.
據(jù)說，之所以會(huì)出現(xiàn)15這個(gè)數(shù)字是因?yàn)楹芏鄬W(xué)生在大一這一年體重會(huì)增加15磅(約13斤);而freshman 15則指代學(xué)生上大一時(shí)體重增加這個(gè)現(xiàn)象。
除此之外，上班族在休假期間長(zhǎng)胖的可能性也很高，大概是因?yàn)樾菁倨陂g神經(jīng)放松，出去玩的時(shí)候又經(jīng)受不住美食的誘惑吧。
Holiday pounds refer to the extra little bit of weight you put on during a period of being on holiday or vacation.
Holiday pounds指休假或者節(jié)假日期間額外增長(zhǎng)的那部分體重，我們可以戲稱為“假期胖子”。

Like college freshmen who get fat from too much dorm food and too little activity, many cubicle potatoes lead very unhealthy lives. They have erratic eating habits and indulge in too much late-afternoon or late-night high-fat snacking. They are only half joking when they say their only physical activity is surfing the Internet.
跟吃太多宿舍食品和運(yùn)動(dòng)太少而長(zhǎng)胖的大學(xué)新生一樣，很多整天待在格子間的員工都過著很不健康的生活。他們飲食不規(guī)律，經(jīng)常在下午或者深夜吃很多高熱量的零食。他們開玩笑說他們唯一的體育運(yùn)動(dòng)是網(wǎng)上沖浪，其實(shí)這玩笑有一半說的是事實(shí)。
