一、不用作不及物動(dòng)詞
通常只作及物動(dòng)詞，通常用于 admire (sb for) sth, 意為“因?yàn)?hellip;…而欽佩或贊美某人”。如：
We all admire your taste in art. 我們都?xì)J佩你的藝術(shù)鑒賞力。
I admired his immense physical strength．我很佩服他巨大的體力。
The industrious Dutch are admired by their neighbors. 勤勞的荷蘭人受到鄰國(guó)人的崇敬。
比較：
人們贊美他的誠(chéng)實(shí)。
正：We admired his honesty.
正：We admired him for his honesty.
我們佩服他事業(yè)有成。
正：I admire his success in business.
正：I admire him for his success in business.
二、其后不接that從句
其后一般不接 that 從句，但有時(shí)可接 what 從句。如：
我們對(duì)他所做的事很欽佩。
正：We admire (him for) what he has done.
誤：We admire that he is honest.
